by AlaskaGirl907 Mon Aug 26, 2013 1:58 pmHello from the far north! I am a SAHM with 2 kids and 2 fur babies. We keep active hunting, fishing, gardening, gold prospecting, berry picking and riding. We are subsistence hunters and fishers which means we hunt and fish to live. 98% of our meat is meat we have harvested and processed our self. Our freezer is full of moose, caribou, salmon, halibut and razor clams. We also have a greenhouse and a few raised garden beds. We try to grow or harvest most of the food we eat. Alaska is a gun lovers state. You can open or conceal carry with out a permit. I use either option almost daily. Its not uncommon to see someone shopping at Walmart with their family and their handgun strapped to their hip. Or to see someone riding their 4 wheeler to the store with their rifle mounted up front. Its just a way of life up here in Alaska!
